Hey there! This week was like a final sprint. Indeed, during one month, we hosted 4 projects in a row and this week was the end of the last one: "Youth Work 2.0".
This project was really special for our beloved coordinator Flavio. It was his first experience as a trainer. Objectively, he is the best trainer in the world (I don't lie, I’m just repeating what I heard from participants who offered him chocolates). He puts a lot of effort and investments into this role and it’s a great achievement for him, so congratulation Paco!
Flavio is at his prime when he's doing his favorite activity: feedback time
During this project, Raùl was involved as a participant. He enjoyed this experience and learn a lot about himself, and maybe also about what he wants to do in the future. Unfortunately, he became sick 3 days before the end of the project but he recovered quickly and he is now in great shape again.
And it was like a malediction for the project team because Mili, who was supposed to participate with Raùl, was also sick during the whole project! In general, we have been affected a lot by the disease at the end of the project. But now, everyone is recovered and Mili as well. She took a good rest and now she has the opportunity to go to Bulgaria with our trainer Fabri as a member of the team, for another project abroad. She will have the occasion to experiment this part of the job as we all did and we wish her a good time during these 10 days outside of Bergolo!
In the kitchen, Mia was back in business after the amazing weekend in Turin for the Eurovision. She took her place in the kitchen with Sofia. After the victory of the weekend in Turin, this week was also the occasion to spread even more Ukrainian culture in our life with a lot of delicious Ukrainian dishes. They did a great job, I can assure you.
Meanwhile, we don’t forget our beautiful garden in Cascina Crocetta! Tim and Angelina had the privilege of taking care of this field and also of eating the first strawberry of the year! (Well, mostly Tim eats it but since he’s the one writing this post he can tell you: it was delicious! And yes, sometimes he talks about himself in the third person, get used to it).
Silvia posing with our first strawbaby!
But above all, Cascina comes to life again and again by welcoming its first visitors! It was kids from the primary and nursery schools of Castelletto Uzzone. First, we ate pizzas and bread cooked in the traditional oven of Cascina by the very talented baker of the village (Once again Tim can testify as a real bread lover: it was amazing!). After this delicious meal, it was time for Silvia to organize a great activity to spread more biodiversity in our ecosystem. We build seed bombs, a mix of black earth, sand, and seeds that we can spread to enrich poor soil. The kids were happy and we spend a really good time on this sunny day.
As I say to you in the beginning, this week sign the end of an entire month of projects in Bergolo. So, after the departure of the last candidates on Thursday, it was time to celebrate (with maybe a little bit of wine, Tim loves wine). This weekend was a good moment to recharge our batteries, rest a bit, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of our beautiful village together, and without 40 other people in the hostel.
Next week will be calmer and sometimes it’s good to take a step back and enjoy a normal routine. But don’t worry, this period of calm will not last too long either, we will continue to live good moments in Bergolo and share them with you in this blog.
Buona settimana a tutti!
